Establish a Mermaid Unit

After having dinner together with Berkut and Fluna, we talked about what transpired today.

「Fluna-san, that’s amazing.」
「Not at all.」

Fluna-san felt embarrassed at Maria’s praise.

「If Mermaids have a strong lower half, which remain so even in their human form, they could be excellent fighters.」
「Sophia, you too, huh. I also think so.」

Sophia agreed, even saying that having a strong lower body was important in various martial arts, so a race that naturally has that characteristic could potentially be outstanding fighters.

「You might be able to fish not just near the coast, but also a bit further out in the ocean.」
「Yes. We can expect to see an increase in catches as well.」
「That’s amazing, Fluna. Let me try some of the fish you catch sometime.」
「Yeah, I’ll invite you anytime, Berkut.」

Berkut and the Aligerous Tribe rarely had the chance to eat seafood. It was only recently that they were able to trade with Accuros and eat seafood regularly, and Berkut apparently loves fish.

Strengthening the combat skills of the Mermaids, who were the sole suppliers of marine products, would directly lead to the greater yields.
With the number of citizens in the Sanctuary increasing, demand for marine products continued to rise. Considering this, it made sense to provide the Mermaids equipment, combat training and power leveling.

After Takumi went out because he had some work to do at the government office, Sophia, Fluna, Berkut, and the others were having tea and eating snacks in the living room.

「So, how is it going, Fluna?」

「Akane-san, closing the gap so suddenly is impossible. Takumi-sama doesn’t do well with forceful approaches, I believe slow and steady steps would be better.」
「That’s right. I think I’ve been very clear about my intentions from the beginning.」

Akane asked Fluna about her progress.

Progress in what, exactly? It was about Fluna and Berkut’s approach towards Takumi.

Actually, Fluna had been consulting with Akane for quite some time now.
The consultation was about Fluna wanting Takumi’s seed for the Mermaids, an all-female race.

At first, when Fluna consulted her about wanting that, Akane thought that she was the wrong person to ask about it, but since she couldn’t bring herself to talk to Takumi about it directly, the task of asking the wives…… fell onto Akane’s shoulders.

Incidentally, the three wives were open-minded about Fluna’s wishes, and have said that they were okay with her joining the group.

As to be expected, Akane did not have the same views as they did, but to Sophia and the other two, it wasn’t an exaggeration to say that Takumi was the king of a country, and so three wives were far too few.

「Still, isn’t it great that Takumi-sama mentioned forming a unit with the Mermaid tribe?」
「Yes. As Marnie had said, let’s include the mermaids who want Takumi’s seed in this unit.」

The Mermaids were an all-female race, so they interbreed with other races to leave descendants, but they don’t take just anyone’s seed.
Having lived under harsh conditions, the Mermaids tend to seek out exceptional men.

「It would be unreasonable to accept everyone that applies, so we will try to select based on age, appearance, and abilities.」
「……so there’s that many.」

It seems there were more Mermaids that wanted Takumi than Akane had imagined.

「Of course there are. There are some of our kin who had children after pairing with people from the Sanctuary, but even if you were to look all over the continent, I doubt there is anyone as outstanding as Takumi-sama.」
「Fluna, you have a keen eye.」
「Yes, as expected of Fluna. You know Takumi-sama well.」
「Yeah, even if you search through all races, there is no man more superior than Takumi-sama.」

Maria, Sophia, and Marnie fiercely agreed with Fluna.

「……you guys like Takumi way too much.」

Akane scowled and chided the four for their intense remarks of affection, but they paid her no mind.

「Please wait a minute! Please don’t forget I’m here too!」
「Still, Berkut are you really sure about Takumi? I thought the sons of your chieftains were courting you.」
「I don’t care about those two idiots!」

Since everyone was just talking about Fluna, Berkut asserted that she was there too. However, when Akane mentioned Vart and Volt, the children of the Aligerous Tribe’s chieftains, Berkut dismissed the two resolutely.

「How pitiful, Bagworm and Tattered Rag nya.」
「Lulu, that’s mean, at least call them Vart and Volt.」
「Akane-sama, you’re amazing nya. I already forgot the names of those two nya.」

Apparently, Lulu’s impression of Vart and Volt remained terrible.

「I think it’s fine. If we remove the ladders to escape from, even Takumi-sama would have no choice but to accept it and give up.」
「Wait, Sophia, what do you mean give up? Well, if you wives are fine with it, I have no right to find fault with it.」

Even though Sophia, Maria, and Marnie were busy with raising their children, they welcomed the idea of Takumi’s partners increasing. Akane didn’t share their sentiments, but if the people involved agree to it, then it was fine.
