Greatest Alchemist? Chapter 703

Transporter Airship Garuda

On the ground of the hangar, which had a high ceiling and wide open space, Laeva and I divvied up magic circles that needed to be drawn to assist with the transmutation.

After mining mithril ore in the Southern Mine, Laeva and I spent three days in the hangar refining the mithril ore, then after checking the other materials, we began making preparations to transmute the Transport Airship.

The size was considerably different, but since this is the third time we’re transmuting an airship, Laeva and I were used to it.

The airframe was gigantic, but the size of the magic crystal was just slightly bigger than the one on the Ouranos.

We would use several of them.

Since it wouldn’t take off and land vertically, we wouldn’t need as much magic power to keep the airship afloat.

Conveniently, thanks to the joint training exercises recently, we’ve accumulated a massive amount of magic stones, enough to not have a problem creating several large magic stones.

Though Laeva and I were refining the mithril, we weren’t in such a rush that we had to chug potions. We were able to work on it over several days, in between work and taking breaks.

「Okay! It’s done on my end! Takumi-sama, how is it on yours?」
「Yeah, I’m done drawing too.」

I was staring at the completed magic formation while talking to Laeva.

「Then we should check if there’s any mistakes.」
「Yeah. We can’t split up the check, so it’ll be a bit of a hassle.」
「It can’t be helped.」

Checking the magic formation was something that Laeva and I had to do several times to make sure there was no mistakes. Because it was for the transport airship, the magic circles had to be quite large, so checking for drawing errors was an undertaking.

Well, it was still easier than when we had to make the Ouranos.

The ship Oceanus didn’t have any space expansion enchantments. It had a massive hull that would not break from the sea monsters which tended to be gigantic, but the enchantment wasn’t necessary for the Oceanus.

Finally, Laeva and I finished doublechecking the magic formation.

「Okay, the magic formation is fine.」
「There are no mistakes.」
「Then let’s get Titan to help us pile up the materials. Laeva, please check if there’s enough materials and if there’s anything missing.」
「Understood.」

I started taking out the materials for the transport airship, which had been stored temporarily in my Item Box.

The withdrawn materials such as mithril alloy for the hull, and wood for the interior were handed over to Titan.

Laeva was crosschecking the type and quantity of materials that Titan was carrying.

Once I was done bringing all the materials out, I helped with the crosscheck.

「All materials have been verified!」
「Okay. Then let’s begin.」
「I’ll prepare the blueprint and projected completion sheets.」
「Thanks.」

Outside of the magic circle, we prepared blueprints and the projected completion sheets to help with visualization during the spell.

For the exterior design by itself, I had drawn the blueprint myself, so I was confident that I could complete most of it in a single cast. However, for the intricate devices and interior features, the image was a bit vague.

That’s why we have several projected completion sheets and blueprints laid out.

The bridge deck, propulsion magic device, suspension magic device, crew quarters, toilets and bathrooms for those rooms, hangar facilities, and more.
Transmuting all of these at once was difficult.

The magic circle was to assist with those, and the finer details were on the papers.

I burned the images of all these documents deeply in my mind.

Then I pieced together the images to complete it in my head.

I then began circulating a massive amount of magic power into the formation.

Laeva also started charging the magic formation with her magic power.

Then I invoked Alchemy.

「『Transmute』!」

The magic formation lit up, and the mountain of materials were enveloped in light.

The next instant, an airship far larger than the Ouranos appeared in the hangar.

「Ohh! It’s a success! Congratulations!」
「Thanks. All that’s left is to check the interior and have a test flight.」
「Laeva will check the interior right away.」

Saying so, Laeva rushed to the airship, opened the manual hatch, and went inside.

「First on board!」

Seeing Laeva excited, I folded my arms and fell deep into thought.

『Is something, troubling, Master?』
「Hm? No. I was just thinking that I had come up with a name for this airship.」

Misunderstanding that I was worried about something, Titan asked me with concern. When I told him that I was just pondering over a name, he looked relieved and left to tidy up.

「As expected, I can’t really ask Titan to give name suggestions.」

I went back to thinking of a name for the airship.

If I were going based off of Ouranos’ source, it should be the Goliath, but that name wasn’t good.
Even in the anime, the original reference was a villain.

「God…… God’s vehicle…… let’s call it Garuda.」

Ouranos had a different myth system, but so did the Oceanus.

Besides, the airframe’s color was a smoky red.

I walked around Garuda, inspecting its exterior.

Yup, no problem.

Transport Airship Garuda, complete.
