Take Me Skiing

When I teleported to the mansion, I changed to boots and wore gloves then teleported back to the snow hill.

It would have been nice if Maria had also brought it together with the ones she did for Wappa and the kids.

「Kyahahahaha!」

When I came back to the snow mountain, Flora was sliding down the hill in Marnie’s arms.

「Ahhh, I wanted to be the first one to sled with her.」

When I saw Flora looking so happy on the sled, I felt both happy and jealous.

And so, I looked around and saw that Wappa and the others looked like they were having fun.

Wappa carried the sled up the hill, but the smaller kids were playing and making snowmen with Maria at the foot of it, which was practically flat.

While I was checking if everyone was having fun, Marnie came over to me with Flora in one arm and pulled the sled with the other.

「Takumi-sama, please play with Flora.」
「Thanks, Marnie! Come with me, Flora.」

I took Flora from Marnie and pulled the sled up the hill.

We played until Flora was satisfied.

Wappa, Sara, and the kids must have gotten hungry from playing all through the morning, so they went to their respective homes. Once they’ve eaten lunch, they’ll probably play again.

The chlldren went home, so Marnie, Maria, and I returned to the mansion.

Even though she was growing up fast, Flora was still a baby, so being outside for a long time was very taxing on her.

At home, Sophia, Laeva, Akane, and the rest were gathered for lunch, Undine and Sylph who were having lunch with us requested some equipment.

「Takumi, please make more skis, snowboards, and skates.」
「Yes. Today is fine, but the Sanctuary residents are going to come by starting tomorrow.」
「Sigh, okay.」

Apparently, the Sanctuary residents did not come to the snow hill today out of respect for me.

「Takumi, could you make a snowboard for me too?」
「Akane-sama, what’s a snowboard nya?」
「I will teach Lulu.」
「Woah, Akane, you know how to snowboard?」
「I’ve gone out enough. I can shred.」

Snowboarding and skiing wasn’t that popular in Akane’s generation, her parents must have been snowboarders.

「Skiing and snowboarding?」
「Yeah, it’s when you use specialized equipment to slide down a snow.」

Since Sophia helped watch over Etoile and Haruka today, she didn’t know what skis and skateboards were, so I gave a simple explanation.

「Is skating something similar?」
「No, skating is when you glide over ice.」

Skiing and skating had similar names, so I explained what skates were, but Sophia couldn’t imagine what it was like.

「Ah, oh right, it might be easier to understand if I show you the prototype I designed.」

I showed her the skates that I made yesterday.

「Takumi, why don’t you show the skis, ski boots, snowboard, and snowboard boots too?」
「Oh, you have a point.」

Like Sylph said, I took out all the prototypes from my Item Box.

「Nice, you recreated the boots and bindings well too.」
「More or less. I haven’t attached the edges yet, and I still have to improve the bottom surface to improve it so it slides better.」

I haven’t decided whether I would make wax yet, but the edge can’t just be a plain sheet for a gliding surface.

「Should I measure everyone’s foot sizes?」
「Can’t you just enchant it with Automatic Size Adjustment?」
「It will need raw materials too. I’m planning on using materials that can handle two enchantments, but it would still be better to adjust the sizes to some degree.
「Hmmm.」

Akane didn’t really understand, but she didn’t refute it when I said it was necessary.

I had everyone, not just my family, but the maids and my aides too, help me with gathering various sizes and shapes of feet.

「Alrighty, shall I make it right away?」
「Please.」
「Ah, Laeva will assist you.」

We had to make a lot, but since it’s a prototype of something that already existed, it would be alright if I make it in an assembly-line system.

Dividing the work with Laeva, we started making skis, ski boots, poles, snowboards, snowboard boots, ice skates with various sizes.

I had considered making the edge and ice skate blades using a stainless steel compounded with chrome, but figured it would be better to just use regular steel if I enchant it.

To treat the sliding surface of the ski and snowboard, I had to reexamine their structures.

I remember the boards need to be flexible and durable

I’ll be using some excellent Treant Wood as the core material, so it shouldn’t break or get damaged easily, so it would be fine if I reinforce it on top of that.

We weren’t making that many, so Laeva and I divided the work and we finished before dinner.

Now all that’s left was to wait for tomorrow. It would be inconvenient if the hill was left as is.
