Sylph’s Performance

With the long recording session over, I set the speakers up at the skating rink at Sylph’s request.

「Now, try playing the music for me.」
「Okay.」

When I operated the magic device and played the song that was recorded yesterday, the music spread across the skating rink.

Confirming this, Sylph began sliding on the ice freely in sync to the music.

Perhaps having imagined it since the recording, no one would have thought the performance she displayed was her first.

The elves in particular were watching her fervently.

「Okay, I will skate for the entire song, music please.」
「Understood!」

Sylph who had been rehearsing her skating choreography to sections of the music had asked me to play the song from the top.

When I fiddled with the magic music player, the orchestral music began playing through the speaker again.

As Sylph’s performance began in sync with the music, the onlookersー the Elves, the residents who were watching the skiers and snowboarders, and myselfー all watched, mesmerized.

I tend to forget because they always interact with us so casually all the time, but Sylph and the Great Spirits had unworldly beauty.
Perhaps because of their existence, they inspired awe and the emotional impact of seeing a beautiful scenery, but they had no awareness of the opposite gender.

Such a being was tracing elegant lines on the ice.

Ahh, the elven women’s eyes were dangerous, they were sparkling. This was definitely going to become popular.
Surely they wouldn’t turn the skating rink into a year-round facility.

After Sylph did a spin and step sequence, she displayed a series of jumps with I’m not sure how many rotations.

She was a Wind Spirit, flying in the sky was normal to her, so she performed jumps so naturally.

To the mesmerized elves, I think even you guys might find this difficult.

Was the length of the music also in her calculation? Sylph’s performance matched the song perfectly.

Once the musical performance was over, there was brief silence, then applause and cheers from the elves poured onto Sylph.

As Sylph and I were chatting, the Elves began practicing spins and jumps.

「Uwaa, I hope you know that this is a winter-only facility.」
「If Undine and I are here, it wouldn’t be difficult to maintain this year-round.」
「……so it’s going to be a year-round thing.」

So it seems they were going to maintain it all year long by sheer brute force. May as well leave it to those two since they volunteered.

「Takumi, please play the music on loop until the magic crystal runs out. It would be better for everyone to have some background music.」
「Gotcha, when the magic power runs out, you’ll have to replace it yourselves.」
「Fine. Do it please.」

At Sylph’s request, I set it so the recorded music continues to play on loop, then left the skating rink.

The skating in the Sanctuary had evolved to a level far different from the fun skating I knew, they were showing some pro level figure skating.

Sylph and the Great Spirits would probably get bored and move on to other things eventually, but the Elves had a bit of monomania, so the skating boom will continue for a while.

By the time the winter chill waned and spring took its first steps, the snow hill was already gone, and the lift was removed.

Wappa and the kids understood that skiing and snowboarding were winter sports, so there were no unreasonable requests to maintain the snow hill once it started getting warmer.
